Detachment 6 is located at Nellis AFB, Nev. The detachment conducts operational test and evaluation of all fighter aircraft and warfighter systems in operationally realistic battlespace environments to determine their effectiveness, suitability, and mission capability. Initially activated at Edwards AFB, Calif., in October 2001, and then later moving to Nellis in February 2006, Detachment 6 has completed F-22 aircraft and software upgrades, F 15 and F 16 software, weapons, and radar upgrade programs, and now the new F 35 Joint Strike Fighter Continuous Capability Development and Delivery software and system upgrades.
